Policy:

If a patron has lost their card, a replacement must be issued by the patron’s home library. The patron may not check out materials using their previous barcode. Inform the patron the lost card is no longer valid.

Procedures:

  • When replacing a lost card the old barcode should be copied into the “Former barcode” field in the patron registration work form. If there is already a former barcode listed in this location, overwrite it.
  • If the patron uses eBCCLS, use the Patron Barcode Change Support Form to report this change. This will enable BCCLS staff to migrate any eholdings from the patron’s previous to current barcode.
  • To eliminate confusion, patrons should be reminded to update their barcode on all personal devices.
