Renewal Limits

Renewal limits established by the owning libraries must be respected and must not be overridden except by the owning library. Libraries are not permitted to reset due dates on other libraries’ materials.

Renewals and Requests

This renewal policy covers items owned by any member library. In the event an item is not automatically renewed, all libraries must honor renewal requests (e.g. telephone requests) by any member library or valid card holder. Exceptions include items with outstanding requests, items for which the owning library renewal limit has been reached, or patrons whose cards are blocked. Check in/check out or resetting due dates is not permitted on other libraries’ material when an item has exhausted all renewals.

As hold requests are unmediated, an item may be trapped to fill a request when there are other copies available. In these instances, the request may be declined and reactivated to continue the renewal process.
