ATTENDEES: Ellen O’Keefe, Co-Chair – Glen Rock , Tom Madru, Co-Chair – Park Ridge – Darlene Swistock, BCCLS – Georgene Betterbed – Glen Rock Friends Lynn Kloss – Teaneck Friends Jeanne Sylvester – Nutley Emiliana Tuohey – Fair Lawn

CREATION OF A BCCLS FRIENDS 501(c)(3) – will not be pursued. Ellen skyped Stephanie from Cliffside Park Library. Stephanie suggested that a library that has a 501(c) (3) host the BCCLS Breakfast. That way we would be able to have a 50/50 or basket Tricky Tray. The host would then take care of the paperwork and checks. That would mean that a percentage of the funds would go to the Scholarship Fund and the host.  Ellen believes that having a basket Tricky Tray would mean more help needed to distribute the baskets at the event and more time to do this would not be worth it.  Georgene mentioned trying to do the 50/50 raffle. She will look into the out of pocket fees and paperwork for next meeting. You would need another license for this and how much it would cost. Also, you would need a license for a Charity Division which Georgene will look into all the expenses involved. Darlene said if Cliffside Park would host this years event since Stephanie has the information and we would give them a percentage for the 50/50 raffle. We would look into Charity Division, raffle license application, and other expenses in order to make a decision.

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS -Everyone on the committee will take turns taking the minutes. Lynn, Jenifer and Jeanne would take over the Friends Focus Newsletter for Ellen.

FRIENDS BREAKFAST – Georgene is dealing with Book Ends in Ridgewood to see if she can get a speaker for this years BC- CLS Breakfast. Book Ends starts touring and scheduling authors in June.  Book Ends includes the price of the book in the ticket price. That would mean increasing the price per ticket for the breakfast. Jeanne mentioned asking a woman as a guest speaker for this year since in the past they were all men speakers. Some suggestions for guest speakers were Adriana Trigiani, Dorothy Benton Frank, Janet Evanovich and Henry Winkler. Georgene will look into these possibilities. Having a motivational speaker instead of an author.

AD Journal – Solicitation of Advertising in the Program Libraries and vendors would take ads in the program journal for the Friends Breakfast. Will ask O’Shea Printing in Hackensack to do the printing of the journal. Ad Journal Committee: Emiliana, Jeanne, Lynn and Lisa. We agreed to simplify the registration, hard count & deadline. We would start in early August with SAVE THE DATE and deadline of October 1st checks MUST be received. Encourage carpooling. – Have extra table for unexpected aides, etc. Freeholders will have a plus 1 guest. The guest will be seated at a separate table as we had some problems at last years event.

Table Decorations – We decided to order a plant or flowers for centerpieces.
